Tetsuaki Misawa: Who is 2021's Surprise Scoring Champion?

As the main stage of the 2021 Mongolian Premier League season drew to a close, Athletic 220 FC players lifted their second championship trophy in as many years and qualified for their second AFC Cup in a row. While the rest of the team celebrated, however, Athletic 220's perennial Golden Boot candidate Nyam-Osor Naranbold did not repeat his personal feat for a second straight time. Instead a completely unknown name sat perched just above the MNT's all-time top scorer in the MPL scoring charts. That player is Tetsuaki Misawa.
You would not be alone if you asked, "So who is he?"
Misawa, a forward, was born on 28 January 1999 in Japan's Saitama prefecture. Prior to this point, he has had a fairly unremarkable career with his highest level played (and most recent) being the Kanto University Soccer League Division 2 in which he played with Saitama University.
Thanks to his agent, Goal Sports Agency, he and another Japanese player, MF Shunsuke Yamaguchi, were connected to BCH Lions and signed for the season in June 2021. What may have seemed like necessary signings to fill out a young and newly-promoted roster turned into much more.
In just 16 matches Misawa tallied 17 goals and added an extra 5 assists, making him a part of an incredible 22 of BCH's 36 goals scored. These statistics are an even more remarkable accomplishment for a rookie striker on a newly-promoted side.
So what's next for the player?
The future is still uncertain. With his contract with the club set to expire, BCH Lions is now in a relegation fight for survival, making a return to the club next season at least doubtful. The player himself admits that he loves Mongolia because of the good food and kind people, but has dreams of experiencing several other leagues and countries elsewhere in Asia such as Bangladesh, Cambodia, and Singapore.
Following an extremely impressive rookie season club will likely being lining up to make Misawa's dreams come true.
