Khovd Crowned 2021 1st League Champs

Yesterday concluded the 2021 Mongolian First League season. After a back and forth battle for first with Central Deer FC, Khovd Club ultimately sat atop the table at the end of the final matchday. (Full table below)
Khovd will now play in the Premier League for the first time in club history in 2022. Central Deer will take on MPL 9th-place finisher Khoromkhon FC for the right to be also be in the MPL next season. The first leg of the two-match series will be played on 17 October with the return leg two days later.
Khovd has been on the doorstep of Premier League promotion the past few seasons, narrowly missing promotion last campaign with a third-place finish. They finished fourth in both of the two seasons prior.
Khovd Western player B. Namsrai took home perhaps the biggest individual honour as he led his team and league with 18 goals over the 9-match season. Japanese forward Nakano Ayumu of Khovd finished second with the two neck-and-neck in the scoring race.
Goalkeeper J. Dashnyam (Central Deer), Defender Kh. Taivankhuu (Hunters), and midfielder A. Chinzorig also took home individual awards for their respective positions.
