Gobi-Altai Province Rebuilds Central Stadium for Football

The local government of Gobi-Altai province has completely rebuilt its central stadium for football. It follows other provinces including Uvs and Khentii who have recently done the same. In addition to football, the stadium will still be used for traditional sports such as wrestling and archery.

Local governments have seen the benefits to youth from building these facilities. Now, only a few of the country's 21 aimags do not have a stadium designed specifically for football.

Construction at the stadium began in Altai City in June 2020 with finishing touches set to be complete by September 2023. The local government formally took possession of the stadium on 20 July. The same government funded the renovation at the cost of 7,068,920,368₮. Arvin Belt LLC won the construction contract based on the design of architects Al Aid Group LLC.

The stadium now seats 3,500 spectators and opens in time for the 100th anniversary of the Gobi-Altai province.
