The 22/23 First League concluded on 30 June with Erdenes Ilch FC having secured the championship ahead of the final matchday and earning promotion to the Premier League for the first time. Bavarians FC finished second and have earned a spot in the promotion/relegation playoffs against BCH Lions. The playoff match will be played 5 July 2023 . The top four were rounded out by Khovd Western and UB Mazaalaynuud, respectively.

The league kicked off on 22 August 2022 with a winter break from 10 November 2022 to 17 March 2023.

Erdenes Ilch sees itself earn its fourth promotion in five seasons after forming in just 2020. The club finished second in the 2020 National Amateur Cup and earned promotion to the Second League. It earned a second consecutive promotion in 2021 by winning the league. After a disappointing 7th place finish in its first season in the second-tier league in 2021/22, the club rebounded to win the title this season on their second attempt.

Erdenes Ilch FC is owned by M. Ganbaatar and coached by E. Chinbat. Owner U. Otgonbayar and manager B. Orgilsaikhan steered Bavarians FC to the silver medal while third-place Khovd Western was managed by B. Ariunbolor and owned by E. Tsogbadral.

Selenge FC finished last in its first season in the league and will be automatically relegated. Erchim B finished second-from-bottom and should face Second League runner-s up Kharaatsai FC in a promotion/relegation series.
