Ganbayar's UB City Loan Ends Early, Player Competes Against Top Teams in Honved Cup with Puskás

In early April it was announced that wunderkind Ganbold Ganbayar would be on loan to Ulaanbaatar City FC until the end of October 2018, meaning that he would remain with the club through the 2018 Premier League season.

However, the loan seems to have been cut short as the player returned to Hungary in late July.

Ganbayar made only two league appearances during his loan, scoring one goal.

It was not long before he got back into meaningful competition as he featured for Puskás Akadémia FC U19 in the 2018 Honved Cup hosted by fellow Hungary side Budapest Honved FC early this month.

Ganbayar appeared in all three of Puskás's matches. The club began its campaign on 3 August against the academy of Brøndby IF of the Danish Super League. He came on as a substitute late in the first half but the club ultimately earned a disappointing 0-1 defeat.

Ganbayar must have sufficiently impressed his Hungarian coach because the player started and played the full 90 minutes the next day against Serbian powerhouses FK Partizan.

However, the result was once again disappointing as the Hungarian side dropped a 0-4 result and earned last place out of the three teams in its group.

Two days later Puskás Akadémia FC met the third place team from Group B, Molde FK.

Ganbayar once again started and played the full match as his team earned a 3-0 victory and 5th place out of 6 teams in the tournament.

On 3 September Ganbayar will turn 18 years old and may legally qualify to sign a contract and appear in league matches for the club, something that he has not yet been able to do at his two years at the academy.
